Low density,higher than strength
The density of titanium metal is 4.51g/cm3,which is higher than aluminum but lower than steel,copper,and nickel,but its specific strength ranks first among metals.
Corrosion resistance

In order to improve the corrosion resistance of titanium,surface treatment technologies such as oxidation,electroplating,plasma spraying,ion nitriding,ion implantation and laser treatment have been developed,which have enhanced the protection of titanium oxide film and achieved the desired corrosion resistance.A series of corrosion-resistant titanium alloys such as titanium molybdenum,titanium palladium,titanium molybdenum nickel have been developed to meet the needs of metal materials in the production of sulfuric acid,hydrochloric acid,methylamine solution,high-temperature wet chlorine gas,and high-temperature chloride.Titanium castings use titanium 32 molybdenum alloy,and for environments where crevice corrosion or pitting corrosion often occurs,titanium 0.3 molybdenum 0.8 nickel alloy is used,or titanium 0.2 palladium alloy is used locally in titanium equipment,achieving good results.
Good heat resistance
The new titanium alloy can be used for a long time at temperatures of 600℃or higher.
Good low-temperature resistance
Low temperature titanium alloys represented by titanium alloys TA7(Ti-5Al-2.5Sn),TC4(Ti-6Al-4V),and Ti-2.5Zr-1.5Mo exhibit an increase in strength with a decrease in temperature,but little change in plasticity.Maintaining good ductility and toughness at low temperatures of-196-253℃,avoiding metal cold brittleness,making it an ideal material for low-temperature containers,storage tanks,and other equipment.
Strong anti damping performance
After being subjected to mechanical and electrical vibrations,titanium metal has the longest vibration attenuation time compared to steel and copper metals.By utilizing this property of titanium,it can be used as a tuning fork,a vibration component for medical ultrasonic crushers,and a vibration film for high-end audio speakers.
Non magnetic,non-toxic
Titanium is a non-magnetic metal that cannot be magnetized in a large magnetic field.It is non-toxic and has good compatibility with human tissues and blood,so it is adopted by the medical community.
The tensile strength is close to its yield strength
This property of titanium indicates its high yield strength ratio(tensile strength/yield strength),indicating poor plastic deformation of metallic titanium materials during forming.Due to the large ratio of the yield limit to the elastic modulus of titanium,the resilience of titanium during molding is high.
Good heat exchange performance
Although the thermal conductivity of titanium metal is lower than that of carbon steel and copper,due to its excellent corrosion resistance,the wall thickness can be greatly reduced.Moreover,the heat transfer between the surface and steam is in the form of droplet condensation,which reduces the heat group.Without scaling on the surface,the thermal resistance can also be reduced,significantly improving the heat transfer performance of titanium.
Low elastic modulus
The elastic modulus of titanium is 106.4 GMPa at room temperature,which is 57%of that of steel.

Titanium is a chemically active metal that can react with many elements and compounds at high temperatures.Titanium gas absorption mainly refers to the reaction with carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,and oxygen at high temperatures.
